Be a Hero!
I want you to meet Josh Logan McSpadden. He was born January 17, 1981 and died of cancer October 1, 1986. Josh is my nephew.
Although I could write for days and not tell you everything about this little guy, just let me say he fought a 3-year battle with kidney and lung cancer but very seldom did I seem him without that distinctive, mischievous smile. He loved to be outdoors playing with his brothers and cousins. The last big family outing we had he was riding horses and I found a horned toad in his pocket. He was all boy! He was also one of my heroes.
Today, he is my inspiration. I wrote in an earlier blog about how I want to give you an opportunity to be a hero. Our Etsy store is launching a new inventory item called "Josh's 'Be a Hero' Capes." When you purchase a super hero cape for your child you will also be providing a super hero cape for a current pediatric cancer patient. The patients' capes will be embroidered with "I'm a Hero!" We have a resource in Lubbock, Texas, that will help us match patients with capes, but we may also be contacting other institutions about sending super hero capes to some of their patients, as well. How many capes will we donate? Well, that all depends on you!
Be a Hero for someone today.

Sewing up a (Snow)Storm!
As in most areas of our country right now, Texas is experiencing a winter snowstorm. Yes, even in SW Texas, we have had ice that has delayed or closed schools several times in the last few weeks. So, we've been sewing (and crocheting) up a storm! We have added some new items to our inventory that correspond with the colder weather - cup cozies, ear warmers, boot cuffs and headbands. You should mosey on over to our Etsy store and take a look! After all, you can shop from the warmth and comfort of your home!
We want to remind you, too, that we are still working on some exciting new things with a friend of ours. Hopefully, those items will be on our website by the end of the month. So, keep checking back and we'll let you know how you can "Be a Hero."
