Recharging!

I've spent the last couple of days substitute teaching.  I do that fairly often in between sewing jobs.  I think that helps keep the creative juices flowing.  You know how you look at a problem for so long that everything seems to get jumbled?  Well, stepping away from my sewing/crafting for a short time allows me to recharge.  So the next few days, I'll be sewing and crafting.  I'm working on some projects for family and I have some clients' orders still in the works, as well.  Now I need to carve out some time for production of ideas that have been on the back burner of my brain for a bit.  (Say that three times fast!)

I'm also still working on the chemo care bags.  So, stay tuned and you'll be some of the first to see what the back burner brings about (tee hee)!

Have a fabulous weekend, y'all!

Selfish sewing

I've been busy the last few days doing some "selfish" sewing.  Actually,  I've been sewing for grandkids - but don't tell them; I want it to be a surprise.  One of my granddaughters, who recently turned 6, told me last fall that she wanted me to make something for her.  She proceeded to show me a skirt that was her favorite and wanted me to use it as the pattern.

Having my granny's sewing genes (see an earlier post), I proceeded to do just that.  I have it ready to give to her the next time I see her.  I also made matching dresses for her and her little sister that I hope they might be able to use for Easter.

Now, I'm working on some matching dresses for two other granddaughters.  And, I have a list a mile long of other projects I want to do for family members.

So, what happened to selfish sewing?  I have some patterns and some fabric for myself, but haven't quite made the time to make them.  Seems to me there is a children's story about a cobbler whose children had no shoes.............................

Oh, well, maybe next week!

Heroes

I have a friend, Shea, who is a 31 representative - you know, the cute bags with custom embroidery.  Last year, my sweet friend had a burden for children going into foster care having to carry their few belongings in a trash bag to their new homes.  She wanted them to have their very own duffel bags.  She sought out sponsors and was able to provide about 50 kiddos with bags.  Shea is definitely a hero!

Recently, Shea approached me about helping her with a new charity event.  This year we are putting together "Chemo Care Sacks" for pediatric cancer patients.  Have you ever known a child with cancer?  They go through so much and yet we still see them smile.  They are all heroes!  The care sacks will be cinch sacks and I will be making super hero capes to put in them. I'm so excited for this opportunity!   I'm going to embroider "I'm a Hero" on each cape.

This is such a great idea that I am formulating a plan to allow more people to participate.  So, keep watching here, on Facebook, and on our Etsy store for more information about how YOU can Be a Hero!

Love is in the Air!

With wedding season right around the corner, we've added some new items to our Etsy inventory.  If you need a perfect gift for that special couple, contact us.  We have sleep masks for "Mr. Right" and "Mrs. Always Right" ready to go.

But we also have some custom items like our crocheted name doilies that make lovely gifts.

These doilies can also be customized with first names or other sayings like "Welcome Home" or "Home Sweet Home."  They can be customized to just about any request.

Spread the love!

New for 2015

Whew! 2015 has gotten off to a high-speed start!  First, I have to say thank you to my husband for allowing me this opportunity to really pursue my heart's desire.  He is so supportive - both financially and emotionally.  He has even been known to help me pin together a quilt or cut out a pattern (with great supervision.)

I quit my full-time job so that I would have more time for my fun-time job - eStudio60.  I am now able to devote the bulk of my time to sewing, crocheting, crafting and filling orders!  I will still do some substitute teaching when time allows (and bills require.)

I also hope to do a lot more blogging this year.  I didn't realize how long it had been since I had blogged.  That kind of tells you how busy my life got with my full-time job and my fun-time job toward the end of 2014.

So, keep our business information handy and let us serve you!
